My Styling Trifecta: Texture, Color and Comfort

When it comes to styling my outfits I consider three factors: color, texture, and, comfort. This outfit is giving street fashion and incorporates elements of athletic wear with modern and contemporary style.

Textures

I enjoy mixing and matching textures because textures offer dimension while adding quite a bit of personality to an outfit. The shirt I have on is thrifted from Black and Brown. Aside from the shirt’s vibrant green, what I love most about this shirt is it has the traditional look and feel of a polo-shirt but has the texture of mesh material. It’s a perfect addition to your summer, spring, and fall wardrobe. Also, the Zara Faux leather shorts are an easy addition to your wardrobe and the perfect for length for the transition between summer and fall.

Colors

From the green in my shirt to the brown in my pants, to the mauve and deep gold in my sneakers, and the pattern in my frames. This color palette is a combination of earth tones which are my favorite to play around with. Most times people shy away from adding a pop of color out the fear of not wanting to be over the top. If you would like to experiment with more pop's of color, the safest way to do so is by using colors from the same color pallet.

This year I’ve been drawn to the color green. Most times when picking the color of a particular garment, I base it on my mood or the energy I’d like to embody.  Green symbolizes creativity, growth, and new beginnings.  All of which, I am stepping into.

Comfort

I’m a woman of a taller stature with an inherent tomboy spirit. Comfort is key to me. Comfort can include the fit of a garment, the texture of a garment, and if the garment can be worn for an extended period of time. For the shirt, the mesh material is a breathable fabric and promotes easy ventilation and reduces sweat; which is perfect for me because I am a sweater.

Next, the faux leather shorts are loose-fitting and again, perfect for the fall weather. Lastly, the Nike ZoomX Vista Grinds are also bold in color and structure, comfortable, and versatile! I can also style them up for a look like I did for this outfit or style them down with sweatpants or sweatshirts.
