Feeling Mauverlous: When You Feel Good, You Look Even Better

March 30, 2021

Leslie Moncada

This week, I am strutting in a mauve tiered plisse maxi dress and feeling maurvelous. Layering is my love language and the layering on this maxi dress + the added layers from the utility jacket gave this look BAWDY and definition!

Ok, folks, it's Aries Season.*insert fire sign emoji* And in 8 days I will be entering my 28th solar return. Naturally, as I reflected on the highs and lows of the past year I’m grateful for the ways I have evolved. Creating ChamXpagne has afforded me the space to develop deeper relationship with myself and uncover the layers of my style.

I know you’ve heard the saying: “When you look good, you feel good.” but I would argue that "When you feel good, you look even better." The work that takes place in between feeling good and looking better started when I decided to cultivate an intentional relationship with myself. While styling is widely viewed as a skill possessed by fashion-forward people and while that may be partially true, I can argue that developing my style was primarily influenced by my self-confidence.

Your style is your unique footprint on this Earth. It's far more complex than the clothes you wear; it's your presence-- the way you walk, the way you talk, your ability to move a room, to make people feel comfortable, or to inspire others. Your style mirrors your confidence. Whether it be taking a risk with bold colors, strutting in neutrals, sporting all black like an executive, or commanding presence with patterns. The more comfortable you are with who you are, the more confident you will be in emulating that energy in your style.

Feeling good about yourself begins with practicing self-acceptance and self-love daily. As you evolve and discover new areas of yourself to love, you will divorce the idea of perfectionism and marry authenticity. You will learn that falling in love with yourself is a continuous yet beautiful commitment.  And naturally, your new way of thinking will enhance your self-confidence and eventually trickle over to your style.
